Deciding between Wedding Ring Designs


The selection of the engagement and wedding ring designs are some of the biggest choices a couple can make. Sure, the average engaged couple is already up to their ears in details like choosing a location and buying the wedding dress. However, the rings are a symbol of the marriage itself and should be chosen with love and care. In this article, you'll learn about some of the most popular designs in the wedding jewelry world.

The most traditional design is quite simple in nature and pairs the plain gold band with a solitaire diamond engagement ring. Usually, the engagement ring and wedding rings are crafted from yellow gold, white gold, or even platinum. Sometimes, the man's band is wider than the woman's. The engagement ring consists of a single diamond in a shape like round, oval, square, pear, diamond or even heart.

There are variations on this simple type of design. Some engagement rings are surrounded by colorful gemstones like emeralds, rubies or sapphires. Others are surrounded by more diamonds. When it comes to the wedding band, there are lots of alternatives to the plain band. There are bands that are cut and carved with designs and textures. Many couples choose bands decorated with diamonds. You can even have your wedding bands engraved to make them as special as possible.

Many brides go with the wedding band style known as the eternity band. Or, they may wear an eternity band along with their regular wedding band. The eternity band is a circle of gemstones with no beginning or end, most often diamonds. Another trend in wedding jewelry is the ring wrap, which adds to the diamond solitaire by flocking it with additional gemstones or diamonds.
