A Guide to Choosing Wedding Rings
![]() |
The proposal for marriage is an exhilarating event for all involved. However, after the proposal comes the hard work! Newly engaged couples have lots of important details to attend to. If you've recently become engaged, you will find yourself planning your ceremony, deciding on your vows, choosing a wedding dress and setting a date for your big day. In addition to all of this, you and your betrothed have another important decision ahead of you -- choosing the wedding rings. While the traditional gold band is still very popular for couples, there are lots of other appealing choices.
If you're not for yellow gold, you can either choose white gold or even platinum. Platinum is the creme de la creme of the precious metals world and a popular choice for many brides and grooms. It's extremely hard and durable, resistant to wear and scratching, and looks similar to silver or white gold. For ages, platinum has been the choice of engaged couples who desire the best. Another alternative to yellow gold, white gold and platinum is, amazingly, stainless steel. The stainless steel wedding band is one of the newest trends in the jewelry world. Another hot trend is the fancy wedding band, which might feature diamonds or a special design on the band.
Many couples simply choose wedding bands in a metal that matches the engagement ring. Engagement rings come in yellow gold, white gold, platinum, stainless steel and even silver. There are lots of different styles out there, but they all have one thing in common. Most always, the engagement ring features a solitaire diamond. The diamond can be round, square, pear-shaped, oval, or even heart shaped. Sometimes, couples go with a diamond engagement set which includes matching wedding bands. This is the perfect way to make sure everything coordinates.
Selecting your wedding rings should be done with careful consideration. After all, you and your spouse to-be will be wearing them from your wedding day forward. Make sure you choose a quality metal that you like, and make sure the rings fit snugly on the finger without being too tight. For a little something extra, many couples choose to have their rings engraved with a short inscription or message. This makes a beautiful, meaningful ring even more special and can be done for a reasonable price by your jeweler.
